Calpernia Addams Takes a Trans-sending Jump to the Top

I couldn't be happier to see one of my favorite celebs Calpernia Addams topping the new poll... as of today. This is proving to be the most voted on poll so far, so I'm not calling this one till it's over!

Look at how hot Calpernia looks.... MEOW!

Rue McClanahan in NY Times Today!

From the New York Times article about "An Urban Oasis", finding a place in the city that is more than just a city apartment. Rue talks about having a backyard!

from the NY Times:
“This makes New York possible for me,” said the hammock-rocking actress, Rue McClanahan, the Oklahoma-born “Golden Girls” co-star now in the new Texas gothic cable series “Sordid Lives.” After migrating from sunny California, Ms. McClanahan scored the seemingly impossible — a large backyard with hibiscus trees at an East Side doorman building.

Here is Rue with another Hollywood legend, Dustin Hoffman. Yummy!

Beefcake Detwiler!

Ty's boyfriend "Jacob" who is played by the super hot Ted Detwiler, just made someone's Beefcake list... he sure tops mine!

When Is Caroline Rhea Gonna Pop!

Hasn't Caroline Rhea been pregnant for a long time? She glows with joy when I've seen her on TV or in pictures since she's been pregnant. Maybe she just really likes being pregnant?

I think she should name the child -- regardless of gender, it's the new milinium -- Noleta Lavonda Rhea. LOL

Google Gold: Sordid Lives Press Junket!

Thanks to some random Flikr user, I found hundreds of pictures frmo the Sordid Lives NYC Press Junket. I think the pics were taken on a camera phone as their quality is shoddy. They are cool none-the-less. Rue looks like a GODDESS! And I love Olivia Newton-John and Caroline's shoes!

Google Gold: Sordid Newbies Are So Cute Together

I am starting a new section titled Google Gold and it's where I will be posting jewels I find on Google Image searches about Sordid Lives and the cast.

Here is a great picture of Jason Dottley and Caroline Rhea at the NNN Awards on Logo. Not only are they adorable together, they are quickly becomming breakouts for their new takes on Ty and Noleta. When Noleta brushed GW's hair with that hammer, I nearly peed myself. And I still can't watch Ty and Latrelle's phone call in episode five without tearing-up.

Episode Five: Everyone's Favorite So Far

Episode 5 won our last poll for "Favorite Episode So Far". Tune back in to Logo on September the 10th for a marathon of the first 5 episodes followed by the premiere of Episode 6!

Sordid Shows

I have decided to add yet another section, Sordid Shows. Here is where I will feature any promo material for local productions of Sordid Lives (the play).

I always find it funny to see their artwork, and if there's cast in the shot, I love to see who looks like what!

Here are 2 I've found online:

The first from Unhinged Productions.

The last one is too small for me to see the playhouse or production company info, sorry.

Sexy Sexy Sexy Sordid Stars

Who knew Sissy Hickey could look so ravishing!
And Lavonda, with all due respect (because she always looks good), who knew you could clean-up so classy!

Bravo Beth Grant and Ann Walker for making my best dressed, hottest pair of the week award!

Momma Marathon! Six Sordid Lives Episodes Back-To-Back

Get your datebooks out (lord, I just gave away my age!) and get ready to plan a really fun Sordid Lives viewing party Wednesday September 10th starting at 730 (EST).

To add to the fun, here is a recipe for a cocktail I made up for one of our Sordid Lives Party. It's called a Brother Boy and it's Vodka, Coconut Rum, Peach Fresca, Orange Juice, and Pineapple Juice with a splash of Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice.

Enjoy!

Hurry Vote! Caroline Rhea in Relly Awards on Regis and Kelly

OMG! I just watched Regis and Kelly and they had what I thought was a rerun on because it featured Caroline Rhea promoting Sordid Lives: The Series when I flipped past the channel. Turns out they are doing their Relly Awards!

Vote until MIDNIGHT TONIGHT for Caroline Rhea to be the Funniest Guest and get to come back on Regis and Kelly!

Damn Tivo!

I have tried, unsuccessfully, multiple times to Tivo Episode 4 of Sordid Lives the Series. I accidentally deleted the premiere episode and so I've only seen it once :( i usually watch an episode at least twice the first two days, sometimes twice the same night (episode 5 we watched three times, although I did pass out during #3). Anyway, my Tivo was set to record it last night, and I watched episode 3, again :), which played before 4, then decided to run out for Sushi to bring home and eat while I watched 4 on Tivo. I got home, skimmed my Tivo, and NO Sordid Lives Episode 4!!!! :(

I need these to come out on iTunes immediately!

Del Shores Emails Us AGAIN!

I can't believe that Del Shores reads my blog. I knew he'd seen it because of his first email, but now that I know he reads often enough to suggest A NEW POLL!!!, he's gone and made me cyber-blush.

"Dear sordidlivestheblog --

Let me tell you, I love the blog and so do my fans from my myspace my website and my friends at onlyolivia.com. I have a suggestion for your new poll. I'm starting to think about next season (no we don't have an order yet, but we feel very strongly that one is coming soon... keep writing LOGO!) and as I'm thinking of next year's cameos and guest stars, I was wondering who of these actors and celebs that your readers would like to see on the show -- and since I will be casting more than one, is there any way you can make it where they can vote more than once?

Kirk Geiger
Whoopie Goldberg
Delta Burke
Joyce Dewitt
Calpernia Addams
Perez Hilton
Leeza Gibbons
Margaret Cho
Kathy Griffin
Dolly Parton"

The next poll will be just as Mr. Shores has asked! Tune in tomorrow for the winner of our current Favorite Episode of Sordid Lives: The Series Poll and get your vote in early for Del Shores' poll!

Sordid Lives is "Funniest Sitcom with Edge and Wit"

from TASTITHOUGHTS:

Logo’s Sordid Lives – The Series - takes that crazy white trash, small town , dysfunctional, hypocritical, bible waving, husband shooting, bar drinking, homophobic, gay loving, Tammy Wynette -Drag worshipping movie made in 2000 and brings it to the small screen.
Now I loved the movie! It was so out there funny, exaggerated humor that came so close to the truth that it made you laughed so hard you wanted to pee in your pants. It was that good. Maybe I just have a twisted sense of humor.

The premise of the movie was that it followed the lives of three sisters Sissy, LaVonda and Latrelle and their Drag Queen brother Earl “Brother Boy.” Brother Boy was institutionalized at the local mental institution since his younger years by his mother because of his homosexuality. However, sparked on by his idol, Tammy Wynette, he puts on shows for his fellow patients in her honor. Their mother died accidently when she tripped over the wooden foot of a younger married man she was having an affair with in a cheap motel.

This married man was the husband of the lady that lived next door in the trailer court next to one of the chain smoking sisters, who keeps snapping a rubber band on her wrist every time she has a nicotine craving. But wait there’s more. Olivia Newton John plays a tough talking guitar country singer at the local bar who had befriended the mother of the women. She even has a southern accent. She is no Sandra Dee! Oh and the most conservative of the sisters has a gay actor son who lives in New York who recently starred in an all nude (non-porn) off, off, off Broadway play. That was just a small snippet of the movie.

Back to the series… I have watched three episodes now. To tell you the truth, I was a bit disappointed at first that it started the movie plot over again with a few changes. We get to know the mother now. In the movie we never know her since she already died. She is played by Rue McClanahan (Golden Girls). Most of the original cast members have returned from the movie. New cast members have joined such as Caroline Rhea, Jason Dottley and David Steen.

My disappointment did not last for long. I love these characters and the writing is sharp and funny. Television allows for deeper story arcs and even better comedy. It seems like all the good shows are turning up on cable these days and not on the networks. The only thing sordid about Sordid Lives is you not watching it!

Sordid Lives in Repeats For 2 Weeks

thank you to the livejournal page "Noted from the Teacher's Desk" for this information about the next two weeks on LOGO concerning Sordid Lives: The Series.

Del Shores posted this on myspace:

Dear Sordid Friends:

LOGO has just informed us that due to Labor day and people generally being on vacation the last 2 weeks of August, there will be no new episodes of "Sordid Lives: The Series" for the next two weeks - September 3rd & 10th.
They are however re-running the first five, so just go to:

http://www.logoonline.com/shows/dyn/sordid_lives/episode.jhtml?episodeID=136073

for all episode schedules.

There is a marathon of first five episodes on September 10th starting at 7:30 (EST) for anyone who really wants to play catch-up. I smell some viewing parties! Then new episodes resume (starting with 106 "Call Waiting" with a tour de force performance by Ann Walker!) on the 17th at 10PM.

Dumb Ass Reviews

I've decided to include a new section that highlights some really stupid reviews I've come across about Sordid Lives, whether it be the film, play or TV series. I realize that I probably shouldn't shine a light on such trash, but I think it's ironic:

First up from the Valdosta Daily Times (it is from the Editorial Column in reference to the papers article/review of the play):
"I found the article regarding ‘Sordid Lives’ to be very offensive. There is enough sordidness in everyday life without bringing it to the stage. If this is culture, God forbid that I ever become cultured."

Youtube Gold: Sordid's Chris Pudlo Gives Us 10 Minutes of Hysteria

Not only is Chris Pudlo, who plays a crazy mental patient in Sordid Lives the Series, a natural hottie, he's apparently got some mad character skills. Check out this 10 minute short film he just posted to youtube.com.
From Youtube:

A succession of strange people interview for a mysterious job in an unsettling office.

Olivia Newton-John's Uncut "Dick"

It's no lie... she's written a hyterically funny song titled "You Look Like A Dick" for Sordid Lives: the Series and Del Shores has posted the full length version on his youtube.com page.
I'm loving this show more and more everyday!

Poll Winners!

The last two polls showed that "Listen to me you little pill poppin bitch" (said by Rue McClanahan's Peggy to Bonnie Bedealia's Latrelle) was everyone's favorite line so far and the original version of "Sordid Lives" is still your favorite Olivia Newton-John track from Sordid Lives: The Series!

A new poll is coming soon!

Sordid Lives Ep 5 The Best Yet

God, dead goats, waxed vajajays, and a scene with Ty and his mother than would make a straight man cry all were icing on the Sordid Lives cake in last nighths premiere of Episode 5. I really must commend Logo for having found such a ground-breaking show. My mom and her her straight friends watch it weekly and even my dad, who likes nothing with a ball or an umpire in it, loves the show.
Sissy is quickly becomming my favorite character, followed by Noleta, Brother Boy, Ty and Lavonda. It's so hard to even love any one more than the others they are all so wonderful.
I want to know what YOU thought of last nights episode!

David Steen Beats Up Beth Grant

The new G.W. David Steen is a part of the Del Shores' acting troupe for sure. He starred in Del Shores' most recent play which I've copied a synopsis of below.

I love him as G.W. With all due respect to Beau Bridges, this new incarnation is perfect. He's sexy in a trashy way, he's mean, he's funny and he stays chop for chop with Caroline Rhea which is no easy task considering how brilliant she is as Noleta. The new Nethercott's are fabulous. Well, that could never be the right word for a Nethercott.

Here's David Steen in a production still from Del's play "The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife" with Beth Grant (Sissy) who won every award in theatre in Los Angeles for her leading tour-de-force performance.

The Trials and Tribulations
of a Trailer Trash Housewife

Del Shores’ 2003 play explores the hidden emotions, shame, and secrecy of battered women, while also offering hope, healing, and truth. A delicate blend of frightened humor and pain, the three act play delves right into the heart of abuse. From hysterical highs, to the depths of tragic lows, the play sweeps the emotional spectrum. Shores draws the audience into the fire, allowing them to experience the emotion from all sides… the abuser, the abused, and the powerless bystander.

Beth Grant stars as "Willadean Winkler" a mother of two children (a deceased daughter, and an adult gay son) who is trapped in a loveless marriage with "J.D. Winkler" (David Steen), a struggling truck driver who is lost in unrealistic adolescent athletic dreams. Set in Mesquite Texas, they live in a trailer park next to Willi’s best and only friend, "La Sonia" (Octavia Spencer), a lively character filled with much needed comic relief and hope. Across the way the park’s newest resident, "Rayleen Hobbs" (Dale Dickey), storms into their lives, and sadly she too has her own tragic story to tell.

The character’s are brilliantly strung together, with the help of a sultry intuitive blues singer (Debby Holiday), giving a mere two hour journey into their world that could fill a lifetime. Explosive one-sided arguments erupt and build over time, until one disastrous night it goes too far and the lives of those in the trailer park will never the same.

Sordid Lives The Series is the Best New Show on TV

If you agree that Sordid Lives: the Series is the best new show on TV, have a shot! Not since Will & Grace and the Cosby Show, or Soap and All In The Family, has a TV show been so massively loved right off the bat. The entire cast is terrific. Understood that the existing cast is brilliant the newbies, Caroline Rhea, Jason Dottley, David Steen and David Cowgill are all great. I have a huge crush on Jason Dottley. He's a fantastic actor and a big improvement over Kirk Geiger as Ty. Also the Sharron Alexis, the crazy ex, is hotter and better than ever. Rosemary Alexander looks 10 years younger than in the film and is just captivatingly hateful! Katherine Bailess is a gem, an absolute gem. And Del Shores is a god for creating such a masterpiece. enjoy

Ode To a Bar Goddess: Juanita

Some call her a bar fly, some call her crazy, I call her a bar goddess. Sarah Hunley's portrayal of Juanita in Sordid Lives: The Series leaves me literally aching from laughter. She's got alot on her alcohol soaked brain and she's never afraid of letting you know it. Although, she no good with names, "I forget."

Craziest thing of all is how un-like Juanita Sarah Hunley looks in real life. Compare below for yourself!

We love you Juanita!!

Amber Alert!!! Where are Noleta's Kids

It happened from season one to season two in Family Matters and it seems that now Sordid Lives: the Series has lost children. In the film Noleta mentions having to get home to explain about GW to her kids, but in the series, unless they're the tiniest midgets ever to leave the Wizard of Oz, they are no where to be found!

Whatever happened to the kids??? Will they appear later? Did Del Shores kick them out, LOL?

Spotted in Fiji

Jason Dottley and Del Shores have been spotted in Fiji..more information hopefully forthcoming!

Another String Trick, Stupid

Whatever happened to Earl Bullock? He not only originated the role of string-trick idiot "Odell" in the play, but also in the movie. He's not dead. So why is he not here?

Don't get me wrong. I prefer the new guy, David Cowgill. First of all, he's very funny, but secondly, he's superbly cute. He's straight, too, so ladies! Do you remember him from Young and the Restless?

Let's do a side by side comparison of the new and old Odells. I bet David Cowgil's got a string he can do some mean tricks with in his Wranglers! Yum!

Sordid Video Vault: Olivia Newton-John

Newell Alexander played the role of Wardell from stage in 1996 to film, back to stage and now to TV. His acting credits are as long as his slong and he got a killer smile.

Katherine Bailess Finds Herself a Sordid Home

Okay, so it's in the nut house, but how happy am I that Kat Bailess is in Sordid Lives: The Series!!!!

You may remember her from the now cult-like film from the American Idol franchise From Justin to Kelly which was a (brokendown) vehicle for then -new-artist-now-massive-pop star Kelly Clarkson and Tony Award Winner and Dreamgirl Anika Noni Rose.
Kat Bailess now joins the prestigious ranks that make up Sordid Lives: The Series. I wonder what mister Shores has in store for us with this one. God, I hope she's a lesbian!

Kat was Collen, the tumbling newscaster in Bring it On Again!, she was Erica Marsh on One Tree Hill, Wendy in The Loop, and Stephanie in the Gilmore Girls.

Now that Sharron Alexis has the hot starlett covered for the West Coast of Sordid Lives, Kat Bailess has the sexy sweet Southern belle covered in the Texas World. They compliment each other perfectly.

A Shaved and Sordid Stroll on Robertson

Sordid Lives: The Series star Jason Dottley was seen out today with an incredibly sexy buzz cut. His super sexy(and straight, so eat your heart out ladies!) Sordid Lives co-star Ted Detwiler who plays his blooming love interest and a very pretty younger girl who isn't named on the photo server were with him. I'm assuming she must be one of Jason' step daughters... if you know, write in and let us know!

Sordid! Sordid! Sordid! 1st 3 EPS Tonight On LOGO!

Okay, no excuse for missing any episodes. TONIGHT there is a triple Sordid Lives: The Series night on LOGO of the first three episodes at 7:30, 8:00 & 8:30PM (EST).

Sharron Wins By a Sordid Land Slide

With an amazing 422 votes (46%) Sharron Alexis easily won our last poll. Coming in a close, relative, second is the fabulous Ann Walker with over 350 votes!

She may have only had a few pops in the movie, but her role is so identifiable with all gay men and hags around the globe. Nagging her closeted boyfriend Ty to be honest with her as to why they broke up acts as a catalyst for Ty to come out. In the series, we see her role is greatly enlarged. She's in nearly episode according to imdb.com (the industry bible) and it appears that she has blossomed into a totally sexy starlett.

With the key to Ty's apartment still lingering around her neck, bedazzled no less, Sara Kaufman is bound and determined to get her man back! Will she have any luck? We doubt it. Maybe she'll find straight love on Sordid, maybe she'll go lezzi (hey that lezzie at the theatre in Ty's world would make a fun option0 or she'll continue to evolve into one of Ty's best friends, as most hags become.

Regardless, congratulations Sharron Alexis! You are the winner of our "Which Returning Lady Looks Best" poll!

For those of you wanting a good laugh, check out this youtube video some fan made to the song "Sara Kaufman" had on the soundtrack to Sordid Lives the movie, "Please Don't Be Gay". It's been viewed over 10,000 times on youtube.com. Let's get that number up!

Sordid Lives Jason Dottley Gets Naked on YouTube!

This is hysterically hot and an instant classic:

I found this video and the below article at Quirky San Francisco:
What a surprise when some of the cast went on stage at the Castro Theater, here in San Francisco, and Jason Dottley stole the show by pulling his pants down in front of 1000 or so, mostly male audience at the premier of the new TV version of Sordid Lives. It was totally unexpected and you can tell, I nearly missed it.

I hope he doesn't regret it? And, I'm sure it won't hurt the ratings one bit. It's a very funny show and well worth watching.

Check the link (below), there's a shot of him with his shirt off. That boy just loves to get naked, I guess?

D-Day Updates

It appears that Sharron Alexis has taken an very strong lead in our poll.

I never thought such a face-off would happen and I surely hope that all the ladies involved know that this was a competition of LOVE and that they all are winners.  It's as if they are competing to place from 9.5 to 10.0 on a scale of 1 - 10.  They all are gorgeous.

In that, Sarah Hunley (Juanita) was put in the poll as a joke, she's not supposed to be "purty",  and to answer one of your blog questions, Sissy was not included because we didn't feel like her look evolved any.  She's a bit of classic. Sissy will look exactly the same in 10 more years, so we left her out.

Ann Walker left a beautiful comment on the last post about Sharron Alexis.  You can tell that the cast really loves one another and that the fun in this was understood by all.

Our next poll -- coming up tonight after the show airs! -- will not be an actor vs actor poll.   But it's a firecracker, so come back.

Also today expect a lot of posting as tonight is THE night for our 3rd new episode of Sordid Lives: The Series.

Crazy Ex versus Wild Aunt! The Poll is neck & neck!

You're looking at the polls Top 2 Candidates (by a landslide) for best looking returning ladie.
Who's your vote going to? Young crazy ex Sharron Alexis or wild, loud-mouthed Ann Walker.

SORDID LIVES IN TIMES SQUARE

the best thing ever... from Del Shores' myspace! (visit for the others)
There's a video billboard for Sordid Lives in Times Square.

The Poll Proves: Once You Pop, You Can't Stop

Our second poll has closed and as the results show, 75% of all voters have watched the show more than once! More impressively over 40% have watched it 4 or more times!!

I'm assuming the votes for zero must be from people who can't get Logo. There's good news on that front according to Del Shores myspace; Sordid Lives: The Series will be available on iTunes in a few weeks!

Remember to visit Logoonline.com's Sordid Lives: The Series pages as online traffic is one of Logo's only ways of tracking a show's success.

New Rule: I will always verify my infomation

I was greatly mis-informed and heartbroken over news that Logo has not ordered Season 2 -- yet. I promise to always verify my info as Mr. Shores always replies to my myspace messages. If I can't get a response, I'll mark things "Rumor" if they are not verified.

In the meantime, everyone write logo!!!!!

The Buxom Bodaciously Brilliant Bonnie Bedelia

Bonnie Bedelia's Back with a Die Hard Tongue and a Heart Like a Wheel

Sordid Lives: The Series has one helluva antagonist in Bonnie Bedelia's Latrelle Williamson. In the middle of everything, and never in a good way, Latrelle is the poster childress for hypocrisy. Of course, Sissy doesn't trail far behind in that list. The extraordinary talent that Bonnie Bedelia has that allows her portrayal to go beyond the work of most actresses equally decorated (who could forget Bonnie's Golden Globe-nominated work in "Heart Like A Wheel" or "Presumed Innocent"?) is her full-to-core style of acting, rather living on camera. She can say a million insults in one glance up from her purse, she can warm your heart when she glistens and smiles on the phone with her son Ty, she can make you laugh with one swish of her hands and constantly grabbing those damn pearls, but mostly she gives up boundaries and lets the audience feel with her every breath that she takes.
She's one "pill poppin bitch" who needs to be added to the "Emmy's for Sordid Lives: The Series" list.
Welcome back to San Angelo, Bonnie!  WE LOVE YOU!

Look what we've dragged off google! Smokin hot! But not the Latrelle we know.
